Table Tennis Breezed Through Quarter-finals
Armed with a substantial pool of talents, it was safe to presume our table tennis team would win even before the game started. And true to expectations, the impregnable team beat Hall 11 3-1! They were so confident of winning, they allowed me, a raw amateur, to play in the mixed doubles even after I’ve sheepishly admitted I have no idea how to “slice the ball”. Together with understanding partner Sen Hsien, we fought against the best players of Hall 11. The expected loss (3-0) followed, but far from being critical, the team's kind, encouraging words were magnanimously touching and gratifying.
Suan Wood and Hui Qing were up for female doubles next, and my, were they a lethal combination! Hall 11 was clearly no match for this invincible pair, and resignedly lost the game 3-0. We had walked Hall 11 over for male and female singles, and it was this crucial win that stomped and smouldered out Hall 11's chance of advancing into the semis. The next match will see our trusty table tennis team face worthy opponents for the first time during this inter-hall games, watch this space for more action!
